This season is the most exciting for mango addicts. From raw, saundhi-smelling mangoes to sweet juicy, all kinds of mangoes are now visible in the market. We Indians love mangoes a little more than mangoes, so the whole family still likes to sit together and eat mangoes. But has it ever happened to you or anyone who knows that he has eaten mangoes and blisters on his lips? This is actually caused by an allergy to mangoes.
This allergy is called contact dermititis in medical terms. Mango peel contains a certain type of chemical. When this chemical touches our skin while eating mangoes, there is a reaction which causes blisters on the lips and surroundings. The name of this chemical is Urushiol.
Urushiol:
It is an allergic chemical found in mango peels. It is made up of many chemicals. It has a benzene ring to which two alcoholic groups are connected. Not everyone in the world is affected by Urushiol. It is a type of selective immunity according to which only a few people can get these allergies due to common sucking including peels.
Well, not just this one chemical, a total of 270 varieties of chemicals have been found in mangoes so far that give it its unique aroma and taste. Most of these chemicals are members of the Ester family. Ester is a chemical that gives fruits their fruity sweet smell.
